Better Spaces

What we are Building?

The expansion will include three thoughtfully designed elementary classrooms, a new school entrance with reception and administrative offices, open flex space for community gatherings and large-motor play, and upgrades to the in the existing building, including the relocation of the toddler classroom (Ginkgo).

The additional 7,000 square foot addition will group all elementary classrooms together, allowing for peaceful and optimal social learning, freedom of movement, and opportunities for outdoor learning.

The new school entrance, drop off/pick up loop, and expanded lot will provide additional parking alleviating congestion on Neal Avenue and reduce safety risks and concerns.

Ready for better spaces?

100% participation Goal

There is room for everyone to participate in the fundraising campaign; any donation will directly impact SCMS students and their families. By supporting better spaces for current and future SCMS community members to learn, work, and gather, each and every donor helps enhance the school environment for an exceptional education experience.

Monetary donations are one of the simplest ways to contribute to St. Croix Montessori School. This gives the school the means to respond to challenges in a flexible and immediate way.

Join us in paving the path forward! Celebrating three decades of excellence, St. Croix Montessori School embarks on a journey to honor its 30-year legacy. At the heart of our mission is the unification of our community – a chance for past, present, and future families to become an integral part of SCMS’s brand-new walkway.

We extend an invitation for your family to etch its mark by acquiring a legacy brick. Each brick bears the name of your child(ren), your family name, the years they attended or graduated, pays homage to alumni, recognizes educators and staff, showcases businesses, or spotlights clubs/organizations.

We deeply appreciate your enthusiasm and unwavering support as we embark on a journey of expansion. This expansion seeks to make a lasting positive impact on both our current students and the local community, ensuring a meaningful and sustainable endeavor.

Together, let’s pave the way for an even brighter future! Warm regards, St. Croix Montessori School

  • We love the small school feel of SCMS. How will the expansion impact the community size?

St. Croix Montessori has a current capacity of 150 students. The expansion will allow the school to slowly grow to serve up to 200 students.  The building and it's expansion will continue to provide opportunities for children of all levels to learn and grow together and uphold the vital social community of children and staff that we hold dear.

  • What does this expansion mean for Junior High?

SCMS staff and board recognize the desire within our community for a junior high. The conversation is in the process at Board Level. The addition sets the stage for community growth to potentially offer grades 7 and 8 in the future.

  • Will current spaces within the school also be improved?

With last year's addition of the Oak classroom, some improvements have already been made. Additional finish upgrades, such as new paint and flooring throughout the existing space, are planned so that they are consistent with the new construction at the school. These renovations are included in the budgeted price tag for the expansion.

  • What will future building and grounds maintenance look like on a building this size?

The school's strategic plan recognizes the need for a full-time maintenance person to help support the upkeep of a larger space. Funding for this additional person will be part of the school's general operating expenses and is not funded by the Better Spaces Campaign.
