Animal Camouflage
Animals use natural
camouflage to attack their
prey as well as to defend
themselves. Through careful observation we will
uncover their secrets. We will further explore some
species at the Warner Nature Center.
Week 2 June 22 - June 26
Blooming Beauties
Flowers are blooming around us everywhere. Come
and see which other creatures are attracted to
their beauty. Find out how flowers grow and help
us look after our flower gardens at school. Then
create your own flowers with different materials.
Week 3 June 29 – July 2
From Coast to Coast
Are you fascinated by our fifty states? Let’s take a
trip from East to West by our imaginary train and
then sail to Alaska and Hawaii. Learn about the
states, big cities, lakes, rivers and mountains on
our journey.
Week 4 July 6 – July 10
Bake Your Bread
Nothing tastes better than
freshly baked bread. This
week we will find out more
about the ingredients of good and healthy bread
and we will bake a different type of loaf each day.
We are going to visit the Mill City Museum to learn
about the history of this basic staple.
Week 5 July 13 – July 17
Soccer
Playing ball is always fun. Instructional skillbased
classes will be held, followed by a simple
practice afterwards. Put on your most comfortable
shoes and you may bring your own ball. Try out
our fantastic soccer field! |
Week 6 July 20 - July 24
Spanish, Spanish, Spanish
Throughout the summer we have been learning
Spanish, and we know you can speak a lot of
Spanish words by now. This week, you can
practice all week long with your teachers and
friends as we learn some South American games.
Week 7 July 27 - July 31
Large Mammals
Learn all about elephants,
horses, antelope, camels, deer, goats, alpacas and
other large mammals. We will also get to visit the
horses at Kinni Valley Riding Academy.
Week 8 August 3 - July 31
Weather Station St. Croix
Why is the weather changing all the time? Do you
like scientific experiments? We will make snow,
tornados and create a rainbow. We will figure out
why it’s so hot or cold sometimes, where
hurricanes come from and why there might be hail
in the summer.
Week 9 August 10 – August 14
Planetariums
A Planetarium is a theater built
for presenting shows about
astronomy and the night sky.
You will have a stellar experience learning about
our Solar System and its planets during this week.
We are planning to visit the new Planetarium and
Space Discovery Center.
Week 10 August 17 – August 21
Deep in the Sea
Fish and other creatures that live down in the
deepest part of the ocean adapted to cold and
darkness. Find out more about their lives with the
help of books, stories and films. We will make
sketches, paintings and a deep sea landscape in a
box. |
