Sarah Nelson

Sarah has worked at SCMS since 2014 as the Montessori aftercare director. She has a Master’s of Education in Advanced Montessori Programming, a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science (minor in Nutrition) and holds an AMI Primary Diploma. Sarah was inspired to teach Montessori because “I wanted to be a teacher but believed that if children grow at different rates, (I wondered) why they are forced to learn at the same rate. Montessori fell into my lap at this time and I dove in headfirst. Haven’t looked back since.” At SCMS, she appreciates “building one on one relationships with all of the students, and not just one age group.”

Originally from Lino Lakes, MN, Sarah enjoys scrapbooking, quilting, reading, going to the theater and travel.

Megan Gibbs

Megan Gibbs photoMegan has a Bachelor's Degree (University of MN) and Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Environmental Education (University of MN - Duluth). Megan has a background in Outdoor Education and loves getting to teach kids about the natural world. She is very excited to learn about the Montessori philosophy!

Megan grew up in Mendota Heights and still lives there with her family. Her hobbies include: hiking, canoeing, listening to music, playing tennis, frequenting coffee shops, and spending time with friends and families.

Cathy Stangroom

Cathy joined SCMS in 2017 as a ‘float’ assistant, allowing her to have experiences in all the classrooms of SCMS. She is now in the Outdoor Environment. She has a BS in Biology from Denison University and a ‘Masters’ in life lessons and problem solving.

Prior to moving to Osceola, WI in 2016, she lived in the Lowcountry of South Carolina for over 20 years. The majority of that time she ran an equestrian center, where she taught children and adults riding and horsemanship skills. “I find many similarities with SCMS in developing a child’s love of learning, in turn helping them acquire life skills, confidence and the ability to work with others.”

She and her husband have two children, two granddaughters (one is a current SCMS student), three horses and four dogs. She loves horseback riding, kayaking, paddle boarding, gardening and snow
